doc. PharmDr. Lenka Tůmová CSc
Katedra farmakognosie, FaF v Hradci Králové

Preparations with Echinacea plant extracts are very popular and are particularly used as immune stimulants to treat and prevent viral

and bacterial respiratory tract infections. Their use may induce allergic reactions or may interfere with CYP 3A4 isoenzyme responsible

for drug metabolism. Long-term use of Echinacea preparations may even lead to liver damage.

Keywords: Echinacea, coneflower, interaction.
