Antiepileptics are drugs used to treat or suppress epileptic seizures. Currently, over twenty antiepileptic drugs are registered in the Czech
Republic. Some of them are frequently used in all types of epileptic seizures while others are indicated in limited circumstances due to
selection efficiency or poor tolerability. The widely used classic antiepileptics include carbamazepine and valproates and the widely
used novel ones include lamotrigine, levetiracetam and topiramate.
