Selftherapy with eye problems - how can deal and help the pharmacist?

The article deals with eye problems and symptoms that the patient comes to consult by the pharmacist. It may be acute difficulties (injury, inflamation)or chronic problems (like dry eye), or conditions after surgeries. The most common problems are known as „the red eye“. Below themultifaceted image of „red eye“ are hiding clinical entities with inflammatory etiology mainly from bacterial, viral over to chlamydial conjunctivitis.Very often, patients comes with allergic changes on the eyes or in the eye area. At the pharmacy, often as the first line of consultation,it is recommended OTC products for the treatment of acute conjunctivitis or allergic reactions. The pharmacist can deal with inflammationof the sebaceous glands of the eyelids, such as chalazion or stye. Perhaps the most common problem of ophthalmic patients are difficultiesassociated with dry eye syndrome. Primary is regular and long-term application of various lubricating gels and artificial tears. Similarly, it maycounsel patients following ocular surgery eg., after plastic surgery of the eyelids, where are indicated drugs dampening pain and swelling. Aspart of this pharmacist recommendation is how, in which oder, in which form, how manny times a when to apply the medication.
