Multiple myeloma (MM) is a cancer resulting from a malignant transformation of plasma cells. Early diagnosis and causal therapy improvesquality of life and increases a chance to multi-year survival. The basis of treatment is always causal combination chemotherapy, in patientsunder 65 years of age combined with autologous bone marrow transplantation. This article summarizes the most common symptoms,diagnosis, treatment and supportive modality in patients with multiple myeloma. Furthermore, an overview of treatment options, includingthe latest innovations in the treatment of MM.
