The Association of Veterinarians was established in 1920. Its primary purposes were to support literary activity of veterinarians, take charge of publishing the journal „Zvěrolékařský obzor“ (Veterinary Horizon), and arrange the purchase of drugs and sanitary goods
for veterinary purposes. In 1937, the association started producing its own drugs and became one of the major manufacturers and distributors of veterinary drugs in the then Czechoslovak Republic. It was also engaged in publishing. In 1948, the association was nationalized and, in 1951, all its activities ceased completely.
