Proper inhalation technique of drugs and errors

The choice of inhalation device and correct inhalation technique is fundamental for successful treatment of obstructive pulmonary diseases.

There were described contemporary devices – meter dose inhalers, dry powder inhalers and nebulisers used in Czech Republic. The improvement

of treatment effectiveness could be reached with non fixed or fixed spacers (e.g. JET system). The education of inhalation technique

is in the Czech Republic for several years mostly realized through allergology and pneumology organizations. Nevertheless, all patients,

children as well as adults, do some significant mistakes in inhalations (38 % and 40 %). Czech results are consistent with the situation in other

countries. It is necessary to increase the effort to educate patients of family doctors, allergologists, pneumologists and other specialists.
