In recent years, many guidelines for therapy of arterial hypertension were published. Even so, most patients don´t achieve their blood pressure target. The reasons could be low compliance or unhealthy lifestyle, but also inadequate use of combination drug therapy or irrational combinations of antihypertensive agents.

The article discuss the possibilities of extemporaneous preparation of omeprazole suspension in pediatric practice. The suspensions are individually prepared viscous, flavored suspension for oral use and unflavored suspensions for administration to the gastric feeding tube. This article summarizes the resulting stability data of products with omeprazole.

The symptomatic treatment of the common-cold and influenza

Respiratory infections are the most common infectious diseases which affect both children and adults. The treatment of cold and influenze is mostly symptomatical. Antipyretics are used to treat fever. Cought is affected by antitussives or expectorans according to character of cought. Sympatomimetics are used for decongestion of nasal mucosa. Supportive treatment includes phytopharmaceuticals with desinfectant, expectorant, hidrotic and non-specific immunomodulatory effects. Bed resting, sufficient fluid intake and vitamine-rich diet are essential parts of therapy.

The article presents in tabular form the types of cough in terms of their symptomatology and the thus recommended pharmacotherapeutic group. Mucoactive agents can be classified into expectorants, mucolytics, mucokinetics, and mucoregulating drugs according to the effect on the composition and amount of sputum produced. Antitussives are divided into centrally and peripherally acting ones. The article presents the crucial pharmacological properties of each substance and/or extracts of medicinal plants.
