Petra Matalová

Prakt. lékáren. 2019; 15(2): 64-69

Therapies of osteoporosis can be varied. Delivery of sufficient levels of calcium, synthesis of vitamin D in the skin and physicalactivity are the most successful. When these nutrients are lacking, they need to be artificially added via use of medicaments. The second most common method of therapy incorporates mainly bisphosphonates. Osteoanabolic therapy is also used. Thereis a possibility of targetted therapy as well. The use of therapy has to be long. In these cases of prolonged therapies and oftenasymptomatic diseases, the most important factor is the patient´s compliance and adherence.

Radek Ampapa

Prakt. lékáren. 2019; 15(2): 70-73 | DOI: 10.36290/lek.2019.013

In recent years, the treatment options for relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis have expanded considerably. Cladribine and ocrelizumab are novel drugs intended for the treatment of patients with the active form of this chronic disease. Both drugs have been shown to have a high efficacy in large clinical trials in which there was a reduction in the clinical and radiological activity of multiple sclerosis compared with placebo or active comparator. In comparison with the commonly used current treatment, both drugs have an attractive administration pattern that increases patient adherence to treatment. The safety profile is favourable, with no case...

Andrea Staníková

Prakt. lékáren. 2019; 15(2): 74-76 | DOI: 10.36290/lek.2019.038

Pharmacologic therapies have made a significant contribution to reducing both mortality and morbidity in neonates. A particularproblem in neonates is the off-label use of medicines. This reflects the lack of scientific evidence and availability of appropriatelicensed formulations in neonatology. Unfortunately, for most drugs there is a lack of oral formulations for neonates. Use ofmagistral formulations is therefore part of daily neonatal practice. This article discusses the developmental changes in neonatalperiod and the most frequent problems in neonatal clinical pharmacology.
