Shiitake - content substances and medicinal effects

Lentinula edodes is a basidiomycetous wood-decaying fungus, known as shiitake. Besides being edible, Lentinula has been used for

thousands of years in traditional medicine for treating many illnesses. Recent studies confirm its healing effects. The most promising is

its antitumor, immunomodulatory and antimicrobial activity.
