Approximately 15–20 % couples have problems with fertility. In the Czech Republic, more than 3 % of children are born after assisted reproduction techniques. Clomifen citrate is the basic substance for ovarian stimulation. Protocols with follicle stimulation hormone (FSH) and gonadoliberine (GnRH) analogues are used for assisted reproduction techniques (ART). Human chorionic gonadotropine (hCG) is used for eggs maturation. Progesteron is used for endometrium transformation and luteal phase support. The type and amount of melanin synthesized by the melanocytes, and its distribution pattern in the surrounding keratinocytes, determines the actual color of the skin. Melanin forms through a series of oxidative reactions involving the amino acid tyrosine in the presence of the enzyme tyrosinase. Impaired metabolism or impaired distribution of melanin result in hyperpigmenation or depigmentation. Melasma (or chloasma) is a common disorder of cutaneous hyperpigmentation predominantly affecting sun-exposed areas in women. The pathogenesis of melasma is not fully understood and treatments are frequently disappointing and often associated with side...

The phosphate anion is abundant in the body and is involved in numerous physiological processes, including storage of energy in highenergy bonds. Its regular intake in food is essential and, when there is a lack of its natural intake, early initiation of replacement with pharmaceutical products is important. Oral administration of phosphorus can be done by using food supplements, artificial enteral nutrition or extemporaneous solutions. Parenteral intake can be provided by using proprietary medicinal products or AIO formulations prepared extemporaneously, as well as by using concentrated infusion solutions of phosphate salts.

Dual antiplatelet therapy with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and clopidogrel is the mainstay of treatment in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Despite the proven protective effect of this treatment, a significant proportion of patients remain unprotected by medication because neither ASA nor clopidogrel (Plavix, and others) are effective in all patients. Prasugrel (EFIENT) as another advancement in the group of thienopyridine antiplatelet agents represents a shift towards improved treatment in terms of a more reliable effect. The paper explains that this is mainly due to the more...
